The long-awaited sequel to Almost Human is on its way! But you might have noticed that while I've been telling everyone that Ellora's Cave wants Kett's book, I haven't actually called it by its title.

That's because it doesn't have one.

I've spent quite some time (and I mean months) trying to think of one that actually fits the book and doesn't sound like crap, and have failed utterly. This isn't helped by the fact that most of the words which fit--Dragon, Magic, Wild etc--have reached saturation point in titles (run a quick search for them on the Ellora's Cave site and you'll see what I mean), so I've ruled them out.

So, I'm asking for help. I've Googled and thesaurused and even looked up song lyrics. Nothing. If anyone can think of a really brilliant title, there may be a reward (my undying gratitude for one).

What's the book about, I hear you ask? Well, it's an erotic romance set in the same fantasy world as Almost Human. Here's the preliminary blurb:

Waking up chained to a naked hottie is par for the course in Kett’s life, but when said hottie decides she’s fated to be his mate, she can’t get away quick enough. A shapeshifter by nature and a dragon-tamer by profession, Kett’s tried the whole tied-down thing and all it’s given her is a crippled leg and a prison record. Besides, Bael’s a lunatic, and she has enough of those in her life already.

But Bael’s not about to give up. He likes everything about Kett, from her bad language to her mad family, and he definitely likes the sparks she generates in his bed. Besides, now he’s found his mate, he can’t ever have sex with anyone else, for the rest of his life.

Sure, there are things she’s not telling him, but then there are plenty of things he’s not telling her either. Such as who chained them together in the first place—and why they’re going to stop at nothing until they’ve caught both Bael and Kett, and made sure that the rest of their lives are very short indeed.

Can you find a title for that? Here's an incentive: if I use your title, I'll name a character in an upcoming book after you (or your kid, or your cat, or whatever you fancy). Let me know in blog comments, email me, Tweet it, or Facebook it. Hell, shout it in the general direction of East Anglia, if you like. Lines close by...ooh, say Friday night (your own Friday night, whatever the timezone), 25 Sept 2009. Ready? Set... Go!

Contest runs 21-25 Sept 2009
